These drawings followed the Ode to Oliveira series. They helped me regain my footing in the land of drawing and discover new territory. Often described as a dialogue between the artist and the work, the art making process requires the artist to be a good listener. One must stay alert to subtle cues and whispered inclinations. Calling this series a 60,000 mile tune up roughly, very roughly approximates what the series did for me. My process hadn’t changed, nor my intention although the imagery was different enough that at times I failed to recognize myself.
