The artwork of Nathan Oliveira, SF Bay Area artist with an international reputation affected me profoundly when I studied at CCAC. I left an exhibition at John Berggruen Gallery high on pink, a very new experience. While living in the SF Bay Area, I saw several shows of his work at SFMOMA, it always touched me, deeply. His work was a joy and an inspiration to me. He died November, 2010, a fact I learned over a year later. I grieved his passing by making this series of drawings. Allowing me to use red boldly, the color almost became the subject matter. I hope you enjoy my hats off to a wonderful artist, teacher and man.
